Second Indo-Latin America dialogue as a roundtable at the UAA conference in Washington DC. 

2022 WPSC / APSA conference / Meetings

Prof. Surajit Chakravarty, Prof. Teti Argo, Prof. Widya Suryadini  and Prof. Adriana Sansão Fontes met on the sidelines of the WPSC/APSA joint conference in Bali, to discuss opportunities for collaboration in teaching and research.

2022  IIT Delhi / ITB Bandung student interactions 

Students of IT Bandung joined students from IIT Delhi (online) to discuss issues related to 'urban villages'. The session was co-organized by Prof. Teti Argo and Prof. Surajit Chakravarty

In a follow up session, Prof Chakravarty made an online presentation to ITB students on his research on small towns in India

2022  4S Conference / Research presentations 

Prof. Arturo Flores presented his research on smart cities at a panel on Smart Cities Governance, co-organized by Prof. Surajit Chakravarty and Prof. Jocelyn Cranefield, at the 4S Conference in Cholula, Mexico. 

2023 Discussion on the film 'District 9'

Prof. Walter Musakwa joined students and faculty from India and Indonesia to discuss the film 'District 9' (Neill Blomkamp, 2009), in an online session held on 2 March, 2023,

Ms. Helen Phosho and Ms. Valery Moekela also joined from the University of Johannesburg, and contributed extensively to the discussion. Prof. Arini Murwindarti (IT Bandung), and Prof. Widya Suryadini (ITENAS Bandung) joined the online session with students from their respective institutions,

Themes of urban segregation, othering, and the lingering effects of apartheid, were examined, in a comparative global South perspective. Although there is a long way to go, the speakers shared hope for an inclusive and sustainable future, and endorsed the values of greater South-South collaboration.

The session was part of a course taught at IIT Delhi by Prof. Surajit Chakravarty. Students have been assigned to write a personal reaction to the film based on class materials and this session.
